My poor Mackenzie has an awful virus. She has had a bad cough and a runny nose all week. Yesterday, she felt warm so I checked and her fever was 101.1. We headed off to the doctor, but her ears were clear (thank goodness) and it was just a virus that had to run its course. This morning her fever was 103 and after her nap at around 1:00 it was 104.3!!! I gave her tylenol when she woke up this morning and again after her nap. But, it’s 2:45 and she still feels incredibly hot. And, she’s been perfectly happy sitting in mommy’s lap with her head on my chest all day. I called the nurse and they just instructed me to alternate tylenol and ibuprofen every 3 hours, make sure she drinks cool liquids, ice, or popsicles, and if her fever is still over 103 tomorrow, to bring her in.
The worst part about all this is that we have a baby shower in Tarboro tomorrow! And we are going to the beach on Sunday. So now all those plans are up in the air. Of course, she won’t be able to have any contact with her new cousin 2-month old Peyton. And since she hangs all over me 24/7, I won’t be able to see Peyton either. So sad. In addition to Mackenzie’s sickness, there are also awful wildfires on the NC coast right now. So, the air quality is awful and the smoke can be terrible depending on the wind direction at the beach. So, our entire vacation might get cancelled even if Mackenzie starts to feel better. I hate having so many things up in the air right now.
